Ten nursing students from Minot State and two from Dakota College of Bottineau earned scholarships to help complete their degrees from the Trinity Health Foundation at the hospitals third Nursing Scholarship Banquet.
The scholarship was revitalized in 2016 in response to a nationwide shortage of nurses.
Since then, the scholarship has not only promoted the nursing field in Minot and Bottineau, but also helped retain those who have graduated to work in the Peace Garden state.
"If we can get these well trained and highly qualified people to stay here and keep their roots in North Dakota, I think that's very key to the success of our medical program here in Minot and in the region," said Trinity Health Foundation Board Chairman Dr. Jeffrey Verhey.
Receiving awards of $3,750 each will be Carly Sedevie, Chelsey Bowley, Elyssa Handlen, Jenna Routledge, Jennifer Fettig, Jordan Eul, Kayla Shearer, Lucas Kolden, Morgan Raap, Mosope Osiyale, Sydney Boyce, and Tyler Kroke.
