As part of its fall fundraising season, Tri-County Scholarship Fund (TCSF) will host its inaugural Sporting Clays Classic event on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Hudson Farm Club, 270 Stanhope Sparta Road in Andover.

The event will benefit TCSF's Freedom Scholars program, a partnership between TCSF, schools, and families that helps financially disadvantaged high school students afford values-centered, high-performing private schools. It also assists them with mentoring, tutoring, college prep courses and more.

The New Jersey nonprofit annually provides more than 400 scholarships for many of the state's most financially disadvantaged children, enabling them to attend accredited K-12 values-based private and parochial schools.

"We are very excited to host this first annual event, which will help TCSF raise much needed funds for our Freedom Scholars program so we are able to provide more scholarships to students in need in New Jersey," said Prudence Pigott, president of Tri-County Scholarship Fund.

Registration for the fundraiser includes all course fees and gratuities for a round of sporting clays (20 stations, 100 clays), shooting instruction, ammunition, shot gun rental (if needed), all-terrain carts, and lunch.

At the end of the event, participants will enjoy a cocktail reception followed by an outdoor pig roast at the historic Hudson Farm Club Main House.

The event is co-chaired by Trevor Jones and Paul Onderdonk. Planning committee members include Bob Bailey, Alex Cocoziello, Jim Franson, Paul Krump, Prudence Pigott and Rob Sameth.

Sponsorships range from $500 to $10,000. For more information, call Minnie Simon at (973) 984-9600.

Bishop Frank Joseph Rodimer of Paterson and New Jersey businessman Ed Hennessey created TCSF in 1981. Since then, the organization has provided more than $25 million in partial financial scholarships to financially disadvantaged children in Morris, Passaic and Sussex counties.
