
Students gathered with friends and family Sunday afternoon in West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Emerging Technology Center for the awarding of scholarships by McCracken County Community Career Endowment at their annual reception.
The organization awarded a total of $31,800 between the 33 students selected based on their GPA, financial need, achievements and future goals.
Recipients of 2019 Educational Assistance Scholarship Awards include: Tyeese Anderson, Xavier Chappell, Taliyah Conner, Colbe Crim, Amante' Cunningham, Thailandria Daniels, Alex'Zandria Dunbar, Erycah Edwards, Ruth Flemons, Sydney Greeg, Raquerrien Hamilton, McKenzie Hardison, Erica Hutcherson, Amiya Jones, Whitney Jones-Shaw, Kobe Lawrence-Mayes, Tamera Lott, Joshua Maclin, Yelaesha Moss, Heather Redd, Anna Reed, Dasia Spann, Avery Strayhorn, Kaylyn Telfair, Bre'Ana Thomas, Jade Townsley, Khristan White, Kristioje White and Riana White.
Jahkeem Coleman was awarded the B.A. Hamilton Memorial Scholarship, an award given to a graduating senior enrolling in a technical or business-related field at WKCTC.
The Charles V. Hicks Memorial Scholarship, for students associated with the Oscar Cross Boys and Girls Club of Paducah, was awarded to J'Once Caldwell and Malachi Kirby.
Regina Topp became the first recipient of the Second Chance Scholarship, for a student that started college, stopped to enter the workforce and has now reenrolled at WKCTC to further their education.
Students selected as members of PaxtonScholars Classes VIII and IX were given scholarship funds based on GPAs, as well as a college-ready computer and carrying case. Recipients included Nautica Beasley, J'Once Caldwell, Keyshun Curry, Mariah Greene, Bryce Johnson, MacKenzie Johnson, Tanner Jones, Kyrese Kelly, Tremieka Mai, Madison Robinson, Brooklyn Ross, Delaney Toney and Jordan Ware.
