
Interested in Journalism? Well the Asian American Journalists Association is accepting applications for the Mary Quon Moy Ing Memorial Scholarship. The grant was created by Ing's daughter in memory of her mother who supported her throughout her career as a reporter.
Mary Quon Moy Ing was a woman who moved from China to Canada in 1911 and dedicated her life to helping her family improve in ways she herself could not and in turn building a stable home for her husband and children. Since she cared so much about the well being of others around her, her daughter dedicated the scholarship to her to help students who wish to have a career in the journalistic field succeed. Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify for the grant:
- Be a high school senior or currently enrolled in college
- Be pursuing a career in Journalism
- Be committed to AAJA's mission
- Have some form of academic achievement
- Demonstrate journalistic abilities
- Have financial need
- Have a sensitivity to Asian American/ Pacific Islander issues
The application must be completed online by Sunday, April 21 st at 11:59 PST. The recipient will be received up to $2,000 in rewards that will be paid directly to the school of choice. For more information, check out the scholarship's website.
