Clearfield Area Branch of American Association of University Women will again offer an interrupted studies grant to Clearfield County residents.

The purpose of the interrupted studies grant is to provide financial assistance to any person whose post-secondary education was curtailed and is now enrolled in a two or four-year degree program.

This is a $1,000 grant to a mature college student who has had an interruption in his or her studies and resides in the area served by the Clearfield branch of the AAUW.

Applicants must provide personal data, employment information, educational history, financial information and character references to aid the AAUW scholarship committee in its selection. All information is strictly confidential.

The grant is awarded based on the applicant's financial need and scholastic ability to be used as the recipient sees fit. Criteria for selection include: financial need; current enrollment in a four-year baccalaureate program or a two-year associate degree program; scholastic aptitude; and length of studies.

Application forms are available at Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, the DuBois Library; Lock Haven University, Clearfield campus, and Penn State University, DuBois campus. Completed forms must be returned by May 31 to AAUW Scholarship Committee, in care of Janet Coons, 136 Rocky Bend Road, Clearfield, PA 16830.
