The Vacaville community is invited to participate in the 19th Annual Sarah Renee Phillips Memorial Scholarship Run.

The run is a fundraiser to provide scholarships for local students.

Sarah Phillips was killed after coming home from school when she was 13 years old. To honor her memory, a scholarship fund was set up by her family to help a graduating student from Will C. Wood High School. All proceeds from the event go to the scholarship fund.

This year's run is Saturday and starts at Miss Darla's, 110 Peabody Road. Sign-ins start at 8 a.m. and the run will leave at 10 a.m. sharp for the ride through Sarah's Garden at Eleanor Nelson Park.

After a stop there for a prayer, the group will then depart to the Mankas Steakhouse. Then the ride begins with a beautiful ride up to Lake Berryessa for the next stop at Turtle Rock. After a famous eggroll or something else from Pete's menu the group will head down from the lake to the Moose Lodge in Vacaville for the last stop at 6585 Gibson Canyon Road for a barbecue and great live band entertainment from Savannah Blue, featuring great southern rock.

This run has become a community favorite with folks coming from as far away as Oregon, Nevada and Arizona to remember Phillips and raise money for a deserving student graduating from Will C. Wood High. These students have overcome obstacles and personal hardships and still achieved their goal of graduating.

This event is open to all forms of transportation and is an enjoyable day for all with up to 300 people supporting this cause. Last year's run raised $5,150 for a deserving student. This event has raised more than $60,850 and has aided 14 students with their college journeys.

Donations can be made at any Bank of America, account No. 00514-07056 tax ID 20-1536384. Make donations payable to the "Sarah Renee Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund." For more information, call 624-6310 or send an email to glennphillips01@comcast.net.
