Park's Shane Gibson was one of three winners of $1,000 scholarships offered to wrestlers from three different Montana High School Association classes by Alexander (Zander) Blewett III, a trial lawyer from the personal injury law firm Hoyt & Blewett PLLC.
Gibson, the Class A winner, was a three-time state placer who won the state tournament as a senior at 205 pounds. He also earned a 3.5 grade-point average and intends to wrestle and pursue legal studies in college.
The scholarships are awarded to the top wrestler from each school classification who displayed the best combined qualities of wrestling and academic achievement. Jace Rhodes of Billings West won the Class AA scholarship while Michael Weber of Forsyth was the Class B/C winner.
"We love wrestling for the life lessons it teaches and these kids embody what this great sport is all about," Blewett said in a press release.
