Power cooperatives provide four scholarships

Four local high school seniors have received scholarships from power cooperatives serving northeast South Dakota.

Jacob Bauman of Watertown High School and Sara Thyen of Waverly-South Shore High School each received $1,000 awards.

Bauman, the son of Peter and Bridget Bauman, was awarded by Basin Electric. He plans to enroll at S.D. State University next fall and major in mechanical engineering with minors in economics and mathematics.

Thyen, the daughter of Jim and Penny Thyen, was awarded by Codington-Clark Electric and CoBank. She will enroll at Northern State University and major in elementary and special education.

Janae Kolden of Clark High School and Jacob Tisher of Watertown High School each received $500 awards from Codington-Clark.

Kolden, the daughter of Gary and Betsy Kolden, plans to attend Dakota Wesleyan University and major in health administration and minor in business.

Tisher will pursue a mechanical engineering degree at SDSU. He is the son of Travis and Keri Tisher.
