
The grants are open to applicants who live in Laurelton within the 11413 and 11422 ZIP codes. Students must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and be either a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Each student's completed application packet must include:
* a student personal information form;
* a typed, double-spaced 1,000-word essay discussing the importance of community service and whether or not it should be compulsory for high school students;
* three letters of recommendation including one personal, one educational on official school letterhead and one relating to the student's community service, also on official letterhead; and
* an official high school transcript. The transcript must be received in a sealed envelope. Copies or facsimiles of transcripts will not be accepted.
Completed applications must be postmarked by April 30 and must be submitted by mail to The Federated Blocks of Laurelton, PO Box 130161, Laurelton, NY 11413. Incomplete or late applications will render the applicant ineligible.
