B ASF, in partnership with the American Soybean and National Corn Growers associations and the National Sorghum and National Wheat foundations, awarded $20,000 in academic scholarships to 11 agriculture leaders at the annual Commodity Classic trade show in February.

Kayla Beechinor, a junior from Walla Walla, received a $1,000 National Corn Growers Association William C. Berg Excellence in Agriculture scholarship, awarded to five aspiring agriculture students.

Kayla is majoring in agriculture biotechnology and field crop management at Washington State University.

Kayla also received one of two $1,500 National Wheat Foundation Jerry Minore Memorial scholarships as a student who exhibits a passion for agriculture. That award is named after Jerry Minore, a deceased BASF senior marketing manager, to honor his advocacy efforts for wheat growers.

Kayla's bachelor's degree work is in integrated plant sciences with a double major in agricultural biotechnology and field crop management.

She received the awards at the Commodity Classic trade-show in Orlando on Feb. 28.
