A total of 82,500 students were awarded scholarships in the Primary Education Completion (PEC) Examinations held in November, 2018.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education, Md Zakir Hossain, disclosed the information to reporters at his secretariat office on Sunday.
Of the total recipients, 33,000 students got scholarships under a talent pool program, while 49,500 were in the general category.

The scholarship was introduced to nurture and engage talented students and to prevent drop out, the minister said.
Scholarship recipients in the talent pool program will receive Tk 300 per month, while those in the general category will get Tk225 per month. "Students will get the scholarships for three years from class VI to VIII," he added.
Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee Examinations were held across the country in November, 2018, where 26,52,896 students appeared. 97.59 percent students successfully passed the examinations.
